Bar and counter stools list seat height so they match your island. Sofas and sectionals list the depth of the seat, not just the overall size, because that is what decides whether you sink in or sit up. Cushions and upholstery fabrics are described honestly: linen, cotton, boucle, leather or performance fabric, with the fill named where the maker tells us.
